UK launch of African Women's Decade 2010 - 2020 |
|
On July 31st Pan African Women's Day, UKWILPF Voices of African Women campaign launched the African Women’s Decade 2010 - 2020 with an inspirational event in central London. The African Women’s Decade aims to accelerate progress in the achievement of African Union States commitments on gender equality and women’s human rights.
For WILPF the decade is an opportunity to raise awareness of the work being done by African women’s NGO’s and our Voices of African Women’s Declaration [can you put the link in here] which was written in November 2008 when women from Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sudan and Zimbabwe came together in London alongside WILPF and Diaspora organisation to raise there concerns.
